Not only is it 'Brits abroad' lager lout culture that needs to be taken in hand, but the over 55s are being wagged a finger at about the perils of enjoying themselves a little too much as well, according to industry news-source TravelMole!
The Foreign Office are warning older holidaymakers - or 'Saga louts' - that too much alcohol while participating in holiday activities such as something even as innocuous snorkelling, can put them at risk and in danger of injury or even fatal accidents.
Eating and drinking too much has also led to people being drowned, and more common health hazards related to alcohol excess are those such as heatstroke and falling asleep in the hot sun, to wake up frazzled to a crisp.
According to the Foreign Office, recent polls showed that almost a quarter of 55-plus travellers try activities they would not consider at home. and the BBC reported that older British holidaymakers are causing the sort of trouble normally associated with the younger generation!
Astonishingly, two in three admitted not taking out travel insurance on their last foreign trip and more than half drink more alcohol abroad than they would do in the UK. Of course, holidays are about letting your hair down and trying new things out, but taking unnecessary risks that you wouldn't consider at home is not what they're about.
