Lonely Planet are providing the option to purchase downloadable chapters from the travel guide of the country you want to visit, rather than the whole book, which I think is a wonderful idea. It is absolutely perfect if you're just visiting one region, for example, and only need the part of the guide which explains how to get about the Zanzibar Archipelago, and therefore don't need the whole of Lonely Planet's Tanzania book.
It is also a great idea for those who are touring - as the last thing many of us want to do is to carry around 5 different travel books to add to our baggage allowance! Instead, you could just do a pick & mix of appropriate chapters dependent on where you're visiting (in fact, there is currently an offer on the site saving 20% or 35% if you buying 3 or 4, or 5+)! The chapters appear to range in price from £1-£1.75 so are pennies compared to buying a full guide when a lot of it won't be needed.
