The plight of the Tasmanian Devil

Young_tasmanian_devils It's not very often you get the chance to stroke a Tasmanian Devil. Having got back from Australia's southern-most island state of Tasmania just over a week ago, I'm still chuffed to bits at the fact that I got up close and personal with one of these endangered and furry little creatures at a conservation project called devils@cradle. My assumptions were that they are somewhat vicious, but with humans, not at all. They are actually very shy and timid, and incredibly cute.

    An incredible Tasmanian experience

I got back from Tasmania just before the weekend, and though the famil trip I was very lucky to be a part of was extremely hectic, it was such an amazing experience to get a taster of this wonderful part of the world.

Tasmania is very much a wilderness destination - you head there for the spectacular scenery as varied and diverse as it is. But I also discovered that Tasmanian wine is pretty spectacular as well! And this lesser visited Aussie state certainly knows a little bit about fine dining (so I've come home a few pounds heavier than when I went!).
